Most tutors have no idea how to teach people to play pain-free and with fluid fingers. My 11+ years and 1000s of hours of experience teaching students just like you, in person, has taught me a huge amount about what it takes for most people to learn guitar.
Most of my students are learning guitar at age 40+. Many are retired and some are even in their 80s. All of those students who stuck with it made wonderful progress playing the songs they love, enjoying their practice, and have become confident with fingerpicking, strumming, folk, pop, rock, blues, and playing other acoustic styles.
