Guitarists Age 50+ | Your Fingers May Not Be The Problem
Discover How To Fix The Hidden “Death Grip” Habit That's Making The Guitar Far Harder Than It Needs To Be
...And Discover A More Relaxed Way To Play The Music You Love
The training is 100% free. No payment required.
Dear Guitarist,
If you're a retired or almost retired professional who finally has more time for the guitar, read on...
Right now, guitar may feel far harder than you thought it would be.
If so, you're not alone
and it's not your fault
Other people make the guitar look easy.
You may have a pile of half-finished songs or simply feel lost about what to practice next.
Some people think it's because of your age, stiff fingers, arthritis or a lack of "natural" talent.
That's not the real problem.
The problem often comes from the way guitar is taught.
I'll explain more about that but first, let me show you the very first thing I fix with any new student of mine.
The “Death Grip”
The Most Common Problem I See Guitarists Struggling With
The "Death Grip" starts innocently enough.
The guitar feels like a battle.
Tension creeps into your wrist, arm, shoulders and even the rest of your body.
Tutors and fellow guitarists say:
“Press harder.”
“Build up your calluses.”
“Your fingers will get stronger.”
They're wrong.
So if you put the guitar down feeling stiffer than you did before you picked it up...
And you're fed up fighting the guitar...
Here's The Good News...
You Can Crack The Death Grip In Just Minutes
I've created a simple guide called Destroy The Death Grip, and today I'm giving it away completely free.
The first exercise takes just two minutes and lets you feel for yourself how much pressure your fingers actually need.
Introducing
"Destroy The Death Grip"
My proven, simple training for helping you stop fighting the guitar...
...And start using your hands with less needless effort.

TESTIMONIALS
Here's What Guitarists Are Saying About “Destroy The Death Grip”

"Absolute game changer"
“I was dubious about this (I’m just naturally sceptical!) BUT WOW! Absolute game changer. I never realised that tension in my left hand was being carried through my entire body while playing.”
—Veronica K.

"I was about to sell my guitar"
“Hi I’m in Perth. I was about to sell my guitar as I must have been using the death grip and making it so hard to play my guitar. You have made me more conscious of this and now I do find it easier playing chords. I love the rich sound of my guitar and really happy to be giving it another go.”
— Rose Jackson

“In over 50+ years no one has ever covered that!”
“Oh my gosh, what an ‘eye opener’ in over 50+ years of stop/start ‘trying’ to play guitar, NO-ONE has ever covered that!”
— Michael Clarke

“Can’t believe how easy it is”
“This is Tony. I can’t believe how easy it is to make each chord with so little pressure. The one finger technique really helped me to ease off how hard I was pressing.
Thanks Dan!!”
— Tony Skeat
“What If I Have Arthritis?”
I'm not claiming Destroy The Death Grip can cure arthritis.
It can't.
If you have arthritis, that's real. What I don't want you doing is making things even harder by adding needless pressure and tension on top of it.
NHS advice for hand and finger problems includes keeping the hand moving and avoiding gripping too tightly.
My point is much simpler:
If your fingers are already stiff or sore, it makes even less sense to squeeze the guitar harder than you need to.
Destroy The Death Grip will show you how to find the pressure you actually need when you play.
No miracle claims. Just a more sensible way to use your hands.
The real cost of the Death Grip isn't sore fingertips
It's another year passing without becoming the guitarist you hoped you'd be
Songs stay half-finished.
You keep learning bits and pieces without ever feeling like they come together.
Perhaps the guitar starts spending more time gathering dust in its case. Then you come back to it and feel as though you're starting all over again.
...Or if you're like many you may quit the guitar before you ever solve this riddle.
You haven't left it too late.
You just don't want the next few years to look like the last few.
Now, Imagine If The Guitar Finally Started To Feel Natural
Or if you're like some of my students, you just look forward to making yourself a coffee, picking up your guitar and playing purely for yourself.
...And having something you genuinely look forward to picking up every day
...Without worrying whether the next chord will work.
You're just playing music.
That's what I want the guitar to become for my students.
If you want that, I highly recommend you take this first step today...
Here's What This Can Lead To...
Fixing the Death Grip isn't the final goal. Playing music is.
Watch some of my students playing the kind of music they once struggled to play
Who Am I And Why Should You Trust Me?

My name's Dan Thorpe.
I was never what you'd call a “natural” musician.
I’m hard of hearing in one ear, I'm missing the tip of one finger and I was laughed at in the school choir as a kid.
When I picked up the guitar as a teenager, I was awful.
I'm actually grateful that I struggled.
It taught me what it's like to wonder if you simply don't have what it takes.
When I started teaching full-time in 2012, I found many of my adult students felt exactly the same way.
These days, I only privately teach adults over the age of 50.
That's because they tend not to be looking for silly hacks or magic tricks. They know guitar takes practice and they're willing to follow my advice.
They also tend to love the same music as I do:
Folk. Blues. Classic rock. Fingerpicking. Strumming. Beautiful acoustic songs.
I've now taught around 120 students in person and more than 12,000 online.
Along the way, I've learned something important: most struggling guitarists don't need more information. They need a clearer path and that starts with this free Destroy The Death Grip training on this page.
I've Seen What Happens When The Right Person Gets The Right Help
Here's Logan...
Age 66, a former US serviceman. He struggled with self-doubt caused by the "YouTube casino" of random lessons.
Watch his "before-and-after" video below...
When he showed it to his daughter, she had tears in her eyes.
...And then there's Denise.
She came to me after six years of classical guitar lessons.
A year later, she told me she'd learned more with me than in all those years.
The first big goal I give my students is to join the “Five Song Club”. The goal is simple: play five complete pieces of music with enough confidence to send me a recording.
Denise became the first member of my Five Song Club and here is her video...
It's 100% Free On This Page
...But Here Is My Slightly Ridiculous Guarantee
Go through the training. Watch the videos. Pick up your guitar and actually try what I show you.
If you do all that and genuinely think I've wasted your time, email me within 7 days and tell me why.

I'll buy you a guitar book of your choice from Amazon, worth up to $25.
It can even be written by one of my competitors.
Seriously.
If you've gone through the training, tried it and still think it was useless, the book's on me.

I'm Deliberately Limiting It To 100 Students Per Week
Only 100 new people each week can get Destroy The Death Grip free. This is a real number I watch closely.
Why?
I want to keep this small enough that when one of my students needs help, I can still personally reply. I'd rather help a smaller group of people who genuinely want to learn than build a huge list of people collecting free stuff.
If you enjoy the training, use it and later decide you'd like to become one of my students, great.
If we're a good fit, I'd love to help you.
If not, that's fine too. The training is still yours to use and enjoy.
Just Think About Where You'd Like To Be A Year From Now
Imagine having five, ten or twenty pieces you can actually play and enjoying picking up your guitar every day.
No more half-finished songs. No wondering whether your fingers will ever cooperate. Just playing the music you love and getting better at it. A year is going to pass either way.
If that's where you'd like to be, the Death Grip is a very sensible place to start.
Dan Thorpe
P.S. Destroy The Death Grip is completely free.
All you need is your guitar and a willingness to try what I show you
All I ask is that you please download Destroy The Death Grip within 24 hours of signing up.
After that, your access link will expire, you'll be removed from my email list and I'll make the space available to someone else.
Give me a few minutes and I'll show you just how much needless effort you may have been putting into your playing.
No spam. No tricks.
Pick up your guitar, try it and make up your own mind.
No subscription. No obligation. No spam.
