You step into the outside world temporarily dazzled by the bright sunshine realising you have…
Escaped the Acoustic Asylum!
You hear the sounds of birds chirping.
The taste of salt in the air.
The joyful laughter of children playing on a beach in front of you.
“Freedom, baby,” you quietly utter to yourself.
A voice behind you says, “Yep, freedom never tasted so good.”
You turn around to see a smiling man.
It’s Thorpe.
He embraces you in a warm hug.
Behind him are the weary but resting and hopeful inmates he vowed to free.
“You did it,” Thorpe says to you.
“You destroyed the Acoustic Asylum and beat the Gatekeeper.”
You can’t help but have a wide smile.
“If it wasn’t for you. We’d all be locked up there forever.” Thorpe says as he reaches into his gig bag and pulls out a bottle and two glasses.
You both raise a toast to freedom as you recap the epic adventure you have been on.
Finally, as the sun begins to set, Thorpe pulls out some notation.
“Here, you’ve earned this,” says Thorpe.
It’s one of the most popular lessons I’ve ever taught – now it’s yours.
The song is a special version of “Drunken Sailor” – a version perfect for any student.
You and Thorpe part ways for now. He says to you:
“Farewell, dear guitarist. May your musical odyssey carry you to realms uncharted.”
You smile and look behind you.
Thorpe has vanished but his spirit and determination for you to succeed linger on.
You begin your journey home… Excited, jubilant and full of confidence, as you know you truly belong as a guitarist.
