Correct!
You input your answer by fretting the chord shape on the statue’s stone fretboard.
The answer is indeed E minor.
“The three notes in an E minor chord are E G B. You might already know this,” says Thorpe, “but in music, focused repetition is key to learning.”
And with a jolt, the Carlos Santana statue gracefully unfurls its picking hand.
Dropping to the floor is the TAB for the remaining notes of “Amazing Grace”
…But suddenly you hear the footsteps of the Gatekeeper echoing down the corridor
And then you see the glint of the Gatekeeper’s evil eyes as he turns the corner.
Thorpe runs forward and together, with all your strength, you both push over the Santana statue to block the Gatekeeper’s path.
There is a strange hole in the ground where the statue once stood.
The Gatekeeper strides forward.
You and Thorpe are pinned in the dead end of the corridor with no means of escape.
“Play it now, finish off the song. You already have part 1. Now play part 2. Play the whole piece,” Thorpe says.
Listen to the audio if you need to…
You play and the captivating melody momentarily freezes the Gatekeeper, but…
He raises the deathly nails of his picking hand towards your throat with a surge of desperation.
Yet you strike the concluding notes and the Gatekeeper crumples to the ground
The Gatekeeper hisses and spits and claws at his ears. His dark heart cannot cope with the joy permeating from your guitar.
He desperately crawls to the nearest window.
In a last-ditch attempt to escape the haunting allure of the music, he dives out of the window.
“You’ve done it!” Thorpe declares. “You’ve beaten the Gatekeeper!”
Then as Gatekeeper’s power leaves this world…
The Asylum’s walls start crumbling around you
“We gotta get out of here!” – Thorpe declares.
With exits blocked, Thorpe points to the hole in the ground leading to ominous dungeons.
“Legend has it there’s an escape route,” says Thorpe.
You both venture into the eerie tunnel and you feel something new in your gig bag. It’s a gift of hope:
